Airsonic Advanced
- Airsonic Advanced is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous access to your music.
- Use it to share your music with friends, or to listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and another in your living room.

General Information
- Airsonic Advanced will have the following Media folders already set-up for you by default:
Music - /home/your_username/media/Music
Podcasts - /home/your_username/media/Podcasts
- You can add all your music and podcasts to the relevant directories. They will be scanned everyday at
3:00 CET
by default.
Setting Additional Media Folders
- Go to
Settings -> Media folders
- On the Media folders section, you will see a subsection
Add media folder
. - You can input any string for the
Name
field. - For the
Folder
field, enter the path to the directory you wish to add. - Example:
Name: My Cover Songs
Folder: /home/your_username/media/my-cover-songs
- Click on the Save button at the bottom.
- Then, click on Scan Media folders now button to initialize a full scan of the folder. This will take a while, depending on the size of the library.

- We recommend this folder structure for Airsonic to properly detect and organize the library.

- You can automate this setup by utilizing the following apps
- MusicBrainz Picard
- Lidarr
Adding a Limited User
- Accessing and playing your library using a limited user is recommended over using your admin account because it prevents unauthorized or accidental changes to your Airsonic instance.
- To add a limited user, Go to Settings ⇾ Users
- Under the dropdown menu, select
--New user--
- Then check the permissions needed.
- Since this is a limited account, DO NOT tick
Administrative user
- Since this is a limited account, DO NOT tick
- Check all the media folders you want to access
- At the end of the page, you need to add a username, email (you can make up any email here), and your set password.
- Once that's all done, click on Save.
