Ubooquity
Ubooquity is a free home server for your comics and ebooks library. This guide covers the Ubooquity web interfaces on your service, the initial setup, adding comics and ebooks, and enabling the OPDS feed for compatible reading apps.
Access the Web Interfaces
- Ubooquity has two web interfaces. The library interface is for browsing and reading your media, and the admin interface is for managing your Ubooquity instance.
- Open the admin interface with the Admin URL and your library with the Library URL, both shown in your Control Panel.
- Our Ubooquity installer sets up an account for both interfaces with the username of your service and the password that you provided during installation.
Initial Setup
Log in to the Ubooquity admin interface to configure your instance. The important settings are covered below.
- The GENERAL tab shows an overview of Ubooquity’s status.
- We recommend setting the Automatic Scan Period to
12 hours.
Add Comics and Books
- The default folder for Comics is
/home/{username}/media/Comicsand for Books it is/home/{username}/media/Books. - Upload your comics and books to these folders, then click the LAUNCH NEW SCAN button in the GENERAL tab to add them to your Ubooquity library.
- To share more folders, click the ADD FOLDER button in the LIBRARY tab. Create the directory on your service before you add it.
- After any configuration change, click the SAVE AND RESTART button in the top-right corner.
OPDS Feed
You can enable the Open Publication Distribution System (OPDS) feed on your Ubooquity instance to share content with compatible applications.
Enable OPDS
- Log in to the Ubooquity admin interface using the Admin URL shown in your Control Panel.
- Open the ADVANCED tab and select the 1 Enable OPDS feed checkbox.
- Click the 2 SAVE AND RESTART button.
Access Content via OPDS
By default, your OPDS feeds does not use basic authentication. You will need to set that up by creating a user from the SECURITY tab of Ubooquity.
Once done, you can access the OPDS feed at the following links by using the credentials of the user that you have created:
